Did you know that : “Six degrees of separation is the theory that everyone and everything is six or fewer steps away, by way of introduction, from any other person in the world, so that a chain of “a friend of a friend” statements can be made to connect any two people in a maximum of six steps. It was originally set out by Frigyes Karinthy and popularized by a play written by John Guare.

It shows the power of Networking.

So, what is networking?

Networking is the art of designing your social and business life through your goals with relationships.

But it should be taken into consideration that the main goal of networking   should be to provide benefit by building close relationships.

Although the term “Networking “sounds like a new term in today’s world which was come out in 1970s in America, it is not a brand-new term, in fact, it is the oldest behavior pattern of humanity.

For a successful networking , there are a few areas that one should be very careful about ; communication, body language, effective talk,  personal and professional development, career planning, motivation , human resources, leadership ….

Again, what is networking?

Networking is “action”.

Networking is “process”.

Networking is “alive”.

Networking is “timeless”

Networking is “consistency and longevity”

Networking is “multi-dimensional”

Networking is not the number of the people you know.  Quality is absolutely more important that quantity. In addition, networking is not calling someone when you need them.  For a successful networking, relationships and benefits should be mutual!

Do not remember them whenever you need them, REMEMBER them as much as possible.

And PREPARE” a personal network profile form” including different criteria such as name, contact numbers and address, topic you talk together and also personal information.

This will help you contact with them in a sincere way and go on where you have left your communication.

On the other hand, if you want to know someone new, get ready for the expected meeting and prepare your  ‘approximately’ 30-second of speech including personal details and mutual benefits when you meet for the first time.

In addition to these, use web tools for networking like Xing, LinkedIn and Facebook. If you use them effectively, you cannot believe how effective they are.

More and more can be said about networking. These are just to draw you attention on the power of it.
